ELF Presents $115,000 Gift of Innovation
Together with our donors, ELF reached the goal of raising $115,000 for STEM. The HKMS Engineering and Innovation Lab will be a reality this September. Over the next five years, over 2,000 Easton students will benefit from STEM learning in this lab. Thank you, donors!
Foundation Gains New Support
Since ELF announced the STEM initiative in September 2009, support for ELF has grown. Many parents, residents and corporations share the concern that our country no longer leads the way in producing the innovative minds needed to compete in the global economy. There is a sense of responsibility to do better for our students, and many are turning to ELF to make an impact. We hope to earn your continued support as we move forward to fund future grants. Donations are continuously accepted throughout the year.
How can you help?
The foundation is looking for volunteers to help with the following opportunities:
- Help students participate in science fairs
- Showcase STEM professionals in classrooms
- Pilot a student/professional mentor program
- Organize field trips to businesses to showcase innovation
- Join the board and manage donor outreach
- Join the board and start up a Public Relations committee
- Join the board to explore starting an Endowment Fund
- Volunteer for the Fall 2010 Social Event committee
- Volunteer for the Spring 2011 Trivia Bee committee
- Join as an advisor and meet with ELF officers to offer advice
- Can’t volunteer? Don’t worry - you can donate to ELF. Donations are vital to the Foundation’s success and it’s an efficient and productive way to help.
Contact ELF if you’d like to help. Please come to our next board meeting July 7th at 8:00 PM at the Easton Senior Center. It’s open to the public.
ELF Continues to Move Forward
ELF is motivated now more than ever to make a difference in education.
Here’s a sample of pending ELF grants for the upcoming school year:
- at Joel Barlow High School: funding iPads to be used by students in a new learning community classroom
- at Helen Keller Middle School: supplementing the Project Lead the Way Engineering & Innovation Lab with STEM related field trips and guest speakers
- at Samuel Staples Elementary School: funding the implementation and expansion of the LEGO lab
If you want to see more innovation in our schools, please support ELF. We accept donations throughout the year.
