Journey North Investigation

Applicants: SSES 1st Grade Teachers

Target Population: All SSES 1st Grade Students

Content Area of Project: Math and Science

Amount of Grant: $136 in 2009

The SSES first grade has been awarded an innovative ELF grant supporting their involvement with the Annenberg Foundation's international science experiment, Journey North, during the 2009–2010 school year. First graders will join this international science experiment which will give the children the opportunity to observe and predict the relationship between geography, temperature, and the arrival of spring in our outdoor classroom gardens. Each student will plant a Red Emperor tulip and observe, measure, and draw conclusions about their own plants. Spring promises to be a “beautiful surprise” for all of our first graders.
