“Take a Walk in My Shoes” has been a program that allows students to learn about other cultures and what it truly means to “walk in their shoes.” In their Directed On-Line Study classes, 7th graders had the opportunity to learn about different countries through food and culture. Their study was aligned with the 7th grade World Geography Curriculum taught by Mrs. Jennifer Rose. Students rotated through the D.O.S. classes under the leadership of Mrs. Carol Weinshel in the Media Center and created a book demonstrating their new knowledge and understanding while integrating technology into the final product. The culminating event of a multi-cultural dinner is held yearly at the Easton Public Library. Bernadette Baldino, Easton Public Library’s Director, hosted the students and their families. The Library was transformed into a multi cultural smorgasbord with foods prepared by the 7th graders. It has been an exciting program and one that would have been difficult to manage without the support and encouragement of ELF.
